A short story of how we became Majestic Orchids

Pauline and Mark are Tropical Orchid Flower Farmers with over half a million blooming plants. Pauline is the one with the real knowledge, however she denies the word expert, and believes growing orchids on a large scale is an art which requires good observation, local and regional knowledge and adaptability. What works in one area may not work in another. And oh, do not forget some luck too! Lots of luck!!

Majestic Orchids was created by Marks father in 1989 as an Australian wholesale business. His goal was to produce beautiful orchids on a large scale with a vase life of up to 30 days and fresher than the imported versions. In 1995 our flowers were being rejected by the supermarkets because they lasted too long!  We could not believe they wanted flowers that lasted for a shopping cycle; 7 to 10 days. It was around this time that my father had had enough and sold the business Majestic Orchids to Pauline and Mark.

Pauline and Mark took full control of Majestic Orchids on 1st April 1996. To keep the business alive we needed to change how we were doing things. After much public feedback and demand we decided to change focus to sell direct to the public. With ideas and suggestions from people just like you, who told us what they wanted, Majestic Orchids grew very quickly. By April 2003 we had outgrown our rented business premises at Darwin River and we started a three year move to our own farm at Berry Springs. This was completed December 2005 with the help of our five lovely children, faithful staff and good friends. We were extremely happy with what we had achieved.

As all farmers know, there are always unexpected challenges that are beyond anyones control. Cyclone Monica at the end of April 2006 was one of these challenges for us. It wiped out most of our flowers just before Mothers Day. The support was unbelievable. Once again it was the people just like you who called and not only gave encouragement for us to keep going, but also gave us suggestions and ideas which prompted us to come up with our beautiful new range of Majestic Exotic Bouquets. Out of adversity came new ideas, which created our new product range and helped make our business stronger.

These exotic bouquets have a mix of beautiful orchids and other exotic tropical flowers. All are still covered by the Majestic Orchids Satisfaction Guarantee (Please see top of page for details) and our Customer Service which is there to help YOU! We can deliver flowers on the next working day to most capital cities at farm prices.

The All Orchid Bouquets are available from March to August with limited exotic bouquets still available during that time and the reverse from September through February.

In closing, we all may be affected by adversity and in these times ahead we must have hope, work together and be proud Australians. In some small way we hope that our 5% off all bouquets for this year will help.
